MATHS
Friday Fun with Fractions! ๐Ÿ•โž—

Who's ready for a pizza party with a mathematical twist?

You'll need:

  • A round object

    • Pizza (homemade or shop-bought)

    • Paper Plate

    • A large piece of paper cut into a circle

  • Scissors

  • Coloured pencils or crayons

Instructions:

  • Imagine the round object is your delicious pizza.

  • Cut the "pizza" into equal slices. Start with halves, then quarters, then eighths, and so on.

  • Count how many slices you have each time you cut the pizza.

  • Colour each slice a different colour to create a vibrant pizza masterpiece.

  • Challenge: Can you write the fraction for each slice? (For example, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc.)

Bonus Activities:

  • Add toppings to your pizza using different shapes cut out of coloured paper (e.g., pepperoni circles, mushroom semi-circles, olive slices).

  • Compare different fractions. Which is bigger, 1/2 or 1/4? What about 3/8 or 5/8?

  • Create your own fraction word problems based on your pizza slices. For example: "If you eat 2/8 of the pizza, how many slices are left?"

Share your pizza creations and fraction challenges with us on social media!

This activity makes learning fractions fun and engaging by combining hands-on cutting, visual representation, and tasty food imagery. It's a perfect way to celebrate Friday and end the week with a maths-tastic treat!
